Federal Statutory Holidays in 2024:

  • New Year’s Day: January 1, Monday
  • Good Friday: March 29, Friday (see note below)
  • Easter Monday: April 1, Monday — potentially Quebec only (see note below)
  • Canada Day: July 1, Monday (known as “Memorial Day” in Newfoundland and Labrador).
  • Labour Day: September 2, Monday
  • Christmas Day: December 25, Wednesday

 

Note: All provinces and territories, except Quebec, only recognize Good Friday as a statutory holiday and not Easter Monday. In Quebec, organizations can choose to recognize either Good Friday or Easter Monday as statutory holiday. However, many choose to recognize both days.
